FAQ

1. How is it like when one is under hypnosis state?

Hypnosis is just a state of deep relaxation that everyone experiences before sleep. Still, it differs a little between individuals. It is a state where people will turn into their inner feelings and sensations.

Occasionally some may feel slight numbness or have tingling feelings, while others may feel a bit disassociated. Rapid eye movements are often found when their eyes are moving back and forth like watching movies in dreams.

All the above are natural responses during hypnosis. The hypnotized subjects are still fully aware of the happenings around and can communicate with the therapist if they choose to.

2. What is subconscious and how is it related to hypnosis?

The subconscious mind accounts for 90% of our mind, and can be thought of as the storage room of everything; including previous life experiences, beliefs, memories, skills, all situations encountered and all images seen.

The subconscious mind is like our autopilot. A child who first learned to hold a fork and knife uses the conscious mind to manage the movements. After a few usages, the child will be able to use the fork and knife naturally without the need to think about it. This happened because the habit has been transferred from the conscious to the subconscious mind.

Our conscious mind accounts for 10% of our mind, and has the analytical / critical factor to accept or reject both positive and negative changes to protect us. Under hypnosis, this analytical / critical factor is put to sleep for awhile and the therapist will give positive suggestions (therapeutic suggestions) directly into your subconscious mind, allowing you to make lasting, powerful and positive changes.

3. Can everyone be hypnotized? Will there be any exceptions?

In most cases, anyone without any type of brain damages or hearing disabilities can be hypnotized if they are willing and does not resist.

4. Will I disclose any secrets to the therapist while under hypnosis?

During hypnosis, you are fully aware of your conversation with the therapist. If the client is unwilling to disclose information at that moment, nothing will be revealed.

5. Will I be controlled by the therapist during hypnosis?

Under hypnosis, you have greater awareness than when you are fully awake and will not respond or act upon any suggestions from the therapist which is against your will and beliefs.

6. Will I know / remember things experienced or said during hypnosis?

During hypnosis, you are fully aware of any feelings, images and conversations between you and the therapist, just like when you are awake.

7. Will I fall asleep during the session? What happens if I do fall asleep?

Since hypnosis is a state before going to sleep, it happens from time to time that a client is so relaxed that they naturally fall asleep. If this happens, the therapist can easily bring you back up to the hypnosis state without you even noticing.

8. Will I not be able to wake up after hypnosis session?

Hypnosis is a state of focus into the subconscious mind. You can initial or terminate the experience anytime and is in complete control. There will be no problem waking up within or after a hypnosis session should you wish to.

9. What issues can be solved under hypnotherapy? Are there any exclusion?

Hypnotherapy can solve a wide range of issues; from reprogramming bad habits to identifying root causes of problems or traumas. The exclusions mainly involve the client’s willingness, participation, and cooperation throughout the session.

10. How should I prepare myself for a hypnotherapy session?

Dress in comfortable clothing, and avoid caffeine and alcoholic drinks prior to the session. Keep an open-mind and let all critical thinking drops. There is nothing to worry about and you can let everything flow naturally.

It is always advisable for clients to meditate daily, as it will become easier to enter into a hypnotic state after practicing meditation.

11. How long will suggestions under hypnosis last?

How long they last is variable, subject to the client and the issues involved. It also depends on how appropriate the suggestions are for you and how receptive you are to them. Generally, assessments will be made after the first session.

12. How many sessions are required?

It varies case by case and depends on the client and the issues involved. In most cases, it will be 1 treatment course consisting of 3 sessions. Each session will be spread few days apart from the other. This will also assist in evaluating the suggestions given in the prior session(s).

13. Some people claim hypnosis is a state of interaction with evil energies, is it true?

No, hypnosis is a very natural process that everyone experiences before falling asleep. In scientific term, the hypnotherapist uses different method(s) to relax the client’s brainwaves from a beta state to an alpha / theta state. This is the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious mind.
